Kristen Tomanocy is a feminist who loves talking about Aristotle’s 6 elements of tragedy, drinking wine, and having her hair called a “lioness mane.”
Her poetry is featured in Static and Other Lungless Things, a Penmanship Press book featuring The Intangible Collective. She is the winner of the 2007 Bright Hill Press Word Thursdays poetry competition in the Nature category.
In 2009 Kristen was the first ever female to become the SUNY Oneonta Grand Slam Champion.
Kristen has featured her poetry at the Café Connection in Norwich, NY, at the Women’s Writes Series alongside Miriam Axel-Lute in Albany, NY, and at the Nuyorican Poet’s Café in New York, NY.
She was a member of the 2008 SUNY Oneonta Poetry Slam Team: the Northeast Regional Poetry Slam Champions and Ranked 4th in the Nation at the ACUI Collegiate National Poetry Slam in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
She was the President of the SUNY Oneonta Poetry Slam Association from 2008-2011 and represented the SUNY Oneonta Poetry Slam Team four times.
Kristen is now living in Brooklyn, New York, working on her Master of Arts in English and Theatre Education at New York University.
